There is a certain sedative effect to be had from the aroma of Spikenard essential oil. Though it is reminiscent of the scent of valerian, it is much softer, and has a woodier, earthy smell.
Also known as Nardostachy jatamansi, Spikenard Essential oil has been used since ancient times as perfume, medicine, and to anoint persons of high honor. It was used in the medieval century Europe to flavor some food items, and is an important Ayurvedic herb throughout India. Recipes With Spikenard Essential Oil
Deep Sleep States:
- 3 drops spikenard oil
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil (untoasted)
- Place in small dish and mix with finger. Apply to feet and crown of head before sleep.
- 2 drops Spikenard oil
- 2 drops Clary sage oil
- 2 drops lavender oil
- Place ingredients in aroma diffuser and diffuse for 30-60 minutes
- 6 drops spikenard oil
- 7drops patchouli oil
- 7 drops ylang ylang oil
- 6 drops German Chamomile oil
- 6 drops ginger oil
- 2oz coconut oil
- Add ingredients to 2 oz bottle and mix well. Rub onto inflamed areas as needed.
