The wood of the relaxing Australian sandalwood tree is an ecologically responsible alternative to traditional Indian Sandalwood. They have much of the same components, and Australian Sandalwood is harvested in a sustainable way. As demands for sandalwood rise, countries can find themselves raided of natural beauty as the trees are harvested for export. The wood we use comes from Australia, where the harvests are under strict governmental regulation. This ensures a fair price is paid for the harvest, and plays a very important role in guaranteeing this blessed tree stays around for generations to come.
The santalum spicatum is a shrub tree which grows naturally in semiarid areas in Australia. It has greyish green leaves, grows to a height of up to 20 ft, and produces small orange fruit. It is the wood of this tree which is steam distilled when creating Sandalwood essential oil. The thick, clear oil which is produced is known round the world for its magnificent healing properties.
