The afternoon lag can really get to you. The feelings of lethargy, staring at the bed, or just feeling down and uninspired. You could always hit the sofa for a snooze… or you can take a long, deep breath of the uplifting and stimulating scent that is May Chang essential oil.
With its refreshing sweet yet camphorous aroma, May Chang is a unique addition to the collection of even the biggest essential oil user. Also known as Litsea, May chang has been used for centuries by Chinese herbologists to cure everything from indigestion to asthma, anxiety to age spots. It is also used heavily in soaps, fragrances, and flavorings, and shows significant results in treating symptoms of serious ailments such as cardiac arrhythmia.
The Litsea Cubeba tree from which we make our May Chang essential oil is native to China. It is a deciduous tree that grows up to 25 feet tall and produces lemony fragrant flowers that range in color from white to pale yellow. The berries the tree produces are small and resemble peppers, which may be why Litsea Cubeba is also known as Chinese pepper. These pepper like fruits are then steam distilled to create the high potency oil we use.
