If the smell of basil alone is enough to make your mouth water, then you are not alone! From India to Asia to maybe the most known – Italy; basil has been a culinary staple around the world for centuries. Basil is revered for it’s amazing medicinal properties. In India, for example, basil is regularly used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat coughing, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, and skin abrasions. In Africa, the leaves of the basil plant are used to fight high blood pressure, indigestion, and fever. In Italy, basil is used to inspire romance, affection, and of course – appetite.
Basil is a very elegant herb, and the aroma of basil essential oil stays true to the herb. It has fresh minty notes and a slightly sweet body, yet there is power in that scent. Simply adding 5-6 drops of basil essential oil to your diffuser for 60 minutes a day can help heal symptoms of depression and anxiety, fight fatigue, cure your headache, and stave off your cold or flu symptoms – all while increasing mental alertness and clarity. Talk about a super oil!
Basil can grow up to two feet tall. When it blooms, its flowers range from white to purple in color. By steam distilling the leaves of this powerful medicinal herb, we ensure our basil essential oil stays as pure as possible.
